      Term 2 Week 6 2016:

      General Notices:
      • I hope you all had a great long weekend! But boy oh boy it looks like those cold mornings are really starting to set in now! A reminder that children are asked to keep shoes on at break times now and then remove them when coming back into class.  Feel free to send them along with a pair of slippers to keep their toes warm :) Your child is welcome to bring along a NAMED spare set to leave at school to be used each day if they like.
      • PENS PENS PENS! - We are running low on both blue pens and black whiteboard markers.  As these are used daily so they are beginning to run out.  I would like to ask everyone to please provide 2x Blue Pens and 1x Black Whiteboard marker.  These can be purchased from the school office or just send them along in their Bookbag if you purchase them elsewhere.  These pens go into a collaborative pool for everyone to use so to make it fair please ask your child to hand them to me and I will mark off their name so I know who has brought them along. If they could all be in by the end of THIS week that would be great. Thanks in advance!
      • Barbara has made up some Maths game packs that you are welcome to pop in and play with your child when they arrive at school.  If you would like to borrow one of these for a couple of nights to play then you are welcome to - in fact we would love you to!  Just record the date, your name and the game you are borrowing on the list in each box.  These games have most things that you need to play them included in the pack ie dice, you may just need to find the odd counter (milk bottle tops or old buttons are good options). These games will help your child practise some basic maths skills in a fun way.

        Term 2 Week 5 2016:

        General Notices:
        • Cross-country training will continue each day leading up to the big event on Friday! Due to the cooler mornings and the ground being wet we do our training later in the day now.  It is really important that your child has some good shoes to run in on or in their bag. All students will be required to wear shoes for the cross-country on Friday as there is potential hazards in the grass due to the venue being a public area.
        • Spelling books will come home again on Monday with your child's new words to practise.  These will need to come back on Friday for their 'Spelling Check'.  Please remember that any homework should be fun and not stressful for your child or for you.
        • With the grass not drying out so much now the children are asked to remove their shoes before entering the classroom if they are dirty.  Your child is welcome to bring along some slippers each day or bring a NAMED spare set to leave at school to be used each day.
Term 2 Week 4 2016:

        General Notices:
        • Well it's finally starting to feel a bit like winter is on its way!
        • A reminder that we are doing Cross-country training each day at the moment so its a good idea to make sure your child has some good shoes to run in on or in their bag. We have been doing our run first thing after assembly with Room 3.
        • You will notice this week that your child is bringing home their home spelling book again as I have now finished checking where children are up to.  Please remember that any homework should be fun and not stressful for your child or for you.  Each week I will include a simple way for your child to practise their words.  It is also important that they use their words in context so getting them to write a sentence using each word is a good way for them to practise doing this.   Books will come home on a Monday and need to be back on Friday first thing for their 'Word Check'.  If their is anyone interested in staying after assembly on a Friday to help out with this, please let me know :)

          • This week we will be continuing our Cross-country training so it might be a good idea to send some sports shoes along for your child to run in as some of our running may be on the concrete. Our school cross-country will be held on the 3rd June.
          • Peer-writing will continue this week.  It has been really great so far and the students enjoy spending time with the older students.

            Term 2 Week 2 2016:

            General Notices:
            • What a busy and fantastic start to the term we had last week!
            • This week we will be beginning our Cross-country training so it might be a good idea to send some sports shoes along for your child to run in as some of our running may be on the concrete. Our school cross-country will be held on the 3rd June.
            • There is a slight change to the timetable that Trudy had in that Barbara will now be taking the children for maths while I am on release.  This is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week from 12-12:45.
            • Peer-writing begins this week and will run for 3 days a week for the next 6 weeks.  This is a programme where the older students are 'buddies' for the younger students and help and encourage them to write.  There are many benefits for both students in these situations so we are excited to see the progress the students make by being involved in this.  It is one of our school targets for the year to improve our students writing and this is just one of the creative ways we are using to do so.
            • This week we will begin our Theme for the term: WRAP IT! We are looking at: How can we make informed decisions about protection of earth’s resources? eRoom 3 and 4 are going to be looking at 'rubbish' and how we can make small changes in our daily lives that will reduce our environmental footprint.

            • There was an introduction letter in your child's bag today for you to read and learn a little more about me :)
            • Also in their bag was a snap-lock bag asking for them to bring up to 5 items (that will fit IN the bag).  We talked about what they could do if they had an item that was to big for the bag so ask them to be creative.
