Arty Lines

Today Room 3 and 4 started our Art exploration using line.  We talked about all the different lines we know.  Then we had a go at drawing different lines.  Together we created a pretty cool 'Line Art' picture!

Play Day Thursday

Every Thursday a group of children in our class perform a play for the rest of us. Our 'performers' need to work together to organise their play ready to perform.  They need to focus on using clear voices and making sure they face their audience. The 'audience' needs to make sure they are sitting still and focusing on the play showing appreciation at the end. This weeks play was 'The Tale of the Cook' performed by: Liam, Luke, Annika, Levi, and Caleb.

Discovery Week 3

Our Discovery focus for today was CONNECT - we were working on 'Connecting with others'.  We talked about take turns, including others and working as a team to make/do something as a group.  Here are some snapshots of what we got up to...

Non-fiction Reading

This week we have all been reading some non-fiction texts.  We each recorded some facts that we had learnt from the book and then used those to make a picCollege on the iPads (it was our first time!). We also wrote about what we had learnt and what our opinion was on the topic.  Here is one from each group:

Birds - By Olivia
I love birds because they are my favourite. Birds fly and birds walk. I love flamingos.  Some birds are yellow. Some birds are red.  Birds have wings. Birds have a beak.

Giraffes - By Max
A giraffe bends down to drink water.  Giraffes are tall.  Giraffes can't climb.  Giraffes are amazing animals to look at.

Giant Squid - By Jackson
Giant squid can grow almost 18 metres.  Their eyes can grow just about as big as a person's head.  Their beads are big too.  I don't like squid because they are slimy.

Giraffes - By Isabella
Giraffes have a long neck.  Giraffes are 6 metres tall.  Giraffes can run 56 kilometres and hour.  Baby giraffes are called a calf.  I like giraffes because they have a long neck and cool colours.

Looking After Rock Pools - By Zach
When the tide comes in to rock pools it brings in plankton and fresh water, to keep animals happy.  It is cool in rock pools because I like all of the animals.
